Planters in the High Street

Many have told us that the four Planters improve the appearance of the High St and so we have purchased another which will be put in position shortly. We are very grateful to STAR (Shropshire Town & Rural Housing) who gave us a grant of £500 and to RAF Cosford who gave us a grant of £250, both of which will go towards the cost of the new Planter, the remainder coming for our Society funds. Many thanks to both organisations for helping us with our work. We are also very grateful to Albrighton Parish Council which provided us with £150 towards the purchase of new plants and compost for all the Planters.

Bird Feeders in the Library Garden
Everyone has been very pleased with the smartened up garden at the rear of the library which was carried out as part of the recent refurbishment of the building itself. The Society has purchased two bird feeders which we have installed and they are starting to attract birds. We have in hand the provision of some posters and books to help with identification of bird types for use by youngsters (and perhaps even “oldsters”) which will soon be in place. We see that the improved garden is now attracting users of the library to spend some time sitting on the benches reading.

Bus Shelter in the High St (near The Crown)
You will have noticed that's its roof was badly deteriorating and so enquires were made and in conjunction with the Parish Council, Marstons arranged for this to be retiled. Once it was bought to the brewery’s attention they reacted very quickly and I am sure all are very pleased with the result. Many thanks and well done to Marstons who have again shown themselves to be a public spirited business.
